![]() During the last 25 years, the Piedmont Health Care Foundation has invested more than $3.4 million in dozens of nonprofit organizations in the Greenville, South Carolina area. The Piedmont Health Care Foundation has played an important role in catalyzing and providing seed funding to critical projects, and it has provided operating and programmatic funds needed by local health service organizations. As we look ahead, we recognize that much of what makes our community healthy takes place outside of the health care system. So for our 25th anniversary, the foundation is changing its name to the Piedmont Health Foundation. And to further explore the connection between our society and our health status, Piedmont Health Foundation welcomed Dr. David R. Williams, Florence Sprague Norman and Laura Smart Norman Professor of Public Health at Harvard University to speak to our community. His presentation, Beyond Health Care: Effectively Addressing Shortfalls in America's Health, presented a call to action that the entire community has a role to play in improving health.
